Mayıs ayı içerisinde dünyadan en çok konuşulan konulardan birisi Covid-19 pandemisi olmuştur. Salgından ikinci ve üçüncü dalgalarda etkilenen İran, Türkiye ve Avrupa ülkeleri bu ay içerisinde vaka ve ölüm sayısı bağlamında olumlu ivme kazanmıştır. Fakat ABD gibi son dalgada pandemiden etkilenen ülkeler bu ay içerisinde büyük can kayıpları ve sağlık sistemi sorunlarıyla baş başa kalmıştır.
Mayıs ayı içerisinde Türkiye dış politika ve güvenlik gündemi çoğunlukla Libya İç Savaşında Başbakan Serrac ve Ulusal Mutabakat Hükümeti (UMH) lehine değişen denge, İdlib çatışmasızlık bölgesinde yaşanan sorunlar, Irak bölgesinde icra edilen terörle mücadele harekatları ve Yunanistan ile bazı diğer ülkelerle yaşanan Doğu Akdeniz sorunlarına odaklanmıştır. Öte yandan Mayıs ayı içerisinde Türkiye de Covid-19 sürecinin ağır etkilerini atlatmaya ve önlemleri kademeli olarak kaldırmaya başlamıştır.
